In 1994, on December 19, Daniel Sysoev was ordained as a Reader by His Eminence, Bishop Rostislav (Devyatov) of Magadan and Chukotka. At this time he met his future wife, Julia Mikhailovna Brykina. They got married on January 22, 1995. The Mystery of Marriage was celebrated in the Church of St. John the Theologian by Priest Dionisii Pozdniaev at the seminary. While Daniel studied at the seminary, they rented an apartment in Sergiev Posad. After graduating, Daniel and his wife moved to Moscow and soon their first daughter, Iustina.
Being ordained a deacon on May 13, 1995, by His Eminences Bishop Evgenii of Verey and Eugeniy,
Bishop of Vereya, he started his service at the Assumption Church of the Bulgarian Metochion in
Moscow. Until his priesthood in 2001 he served in this church. On July 14, 1995 Daniel graduated from
the Moscow Theological Seminary and enrolled in the correspondence course of the Moscow
Theological Academy.
